To His modest lady of pleasureCompare and Contrast To His Coy Mistress By John Donne. To His Coy Mistress and To His Mistress Going to bed are two numberss that sign carpe diem they are also written by two of themost well(p) known metaphysical poets. Andrew Marvell, the author of ToHis Coy Mistress and John Donne, the source of To His Mistress GoingTo Bed. Both poems were written through the sixteenth and 17th Century, where love and sex were describe as two contrasting things. 16th and 17thcentury attitudes to love and relationship were much stricter than inthe 21st Century, as wealthy men who wished to court a wo human race, would deal to use the convention of writing a letter or a poem to try andwin her over. This is precisely what these poems are about. Each manis trying to bed women, using their poetry. Their poems are more aboutsex, sort of than love or romance. Using their metaphysical bureaus, theyused their sexual images and humorous conceits, to try and seduce thew oman in question. In the 21st Century, it is not recommended for aman to take such action in doing so. in like manner in the 16th and 17thCentury, woman was expected to be virgins until a chosen time. It wasalso unheard of for woman to have children out of wedlock, and if itdid occur, indeed the woman would be seen as an outcast. Although inthe 21st Century, it is more jet if a woman has a child out ofwedlock, she still could be seen as an outcast. Both men take adifferent way in choosing how to seduce the woman, but both take thesame belief in the process, To bed the woman. Throughout time, theway of having sexual ship canal with each other, has changedThroughout this essay, I will be explaining the different andsimilarities, amid these ... ...The each use a different beat, Marvells poem subjects a simpleoctosyllasic couplet. It is centring the poem on time. Donnes poem isan iambic pentameter. This gives it a slow pace, as if it is savouringthe moment. In conclusion, by and by reading both poems, I discovered that I enjoyedreading Donnes poem more than Marvells. I found both poems aninteresting read, because over 500 years, love has changed. You wouldnot find a man upkeep in the 21st Century, writing poetry and lettersto a woman, he wishes to bed. I think that this was a very romanticway of doing this. The tenability why I enjoyed Donnes poem is because itwas sincere and passionate. Marvells world cool, witty and somewhatthreatening. Both poets live up to their metaphysical ship canal on thesepoems, with their imagery, similes, metaphors, alliteration, repetition and sexually explicit words.
